Announcing the CMIS Connector for SharePoint 2010

 LOGOSPS2010_noir

CMIS is a specification that Microsoft developed in along with IBM, EMC, Alfresco, OpenText, SAP and Oracle to enable greater interoperability between content management repositories and to enable a whole new range of Composite Content Applications that can be build agnostic of the underlying repository.

CMIS specification, forming a Technical Committee at OASIS to deliver that specification as a truly open standard, and having four "plug-fest" events where we've tested actual (prototype) implementations of the spec together to make sure it would work in the real-world – I'm thrilled to announce that on October 23, 2009 Version 1.0 of the CMIS specification entered OASIS' public review process.http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=cmis

The CMIS specification defines a standard "domain model" for an ECM system - a set of core concepts that all modern ECM systems have, like Object Types (which in SharePoint we call "Content Types"), properties, folders, documents, versions, and relationships - and the set of operations that can be performed on those concepts, like navigating through a folder hierarchy, updating a document, etc.

http://blogs.msdn.com/ecm/archive/2009/11/09/cmis-management-interoperability-services-cmis-public-review-of-version-1-0-begins.aspx

Public voting on the CMIS specification ends on April 30th and we expect that the specification will be ratified as a standard shortly afterwards.  We are excited that our work on the specification alongside the other leading ECM vendors is coming to fruition and are looking forward to providing support for the standard in SharePoint 2010.

Microsoft SharePoint Antivirus Software

Powerful Virus Protection for Microsoft SharePoint

As Microsoft SharePoint becomes increasingly business-critical for organizations worldwide, protecting the platform from malicious code has become a top concern. Because viruses, worms, rootkits, and Trojan horses are being written exclusively to target SharePoint Products and Technologies, the diligent protection of the platform has become an absolute necessity. Most email and enterprise-level antivirus solutions available today do not scan and protect SharePoint content, so it is essential that organization’s implement an antivirus strategy dedicated to SharePoint protection. AvePoint’s SharePoint Antivirus provides the industry’s most comprehensive and cost-effective anti-malware protection of SharePoint 2007 and 2010 environments.

Fully integrated into the Microsoft SharePoint Central Administration interface, SharePoint Antivirus provides for efficient centralized antivirus management for your entire farm. Real-time, event-based scanning ensures that malware is identified and quarantined before it reaches the SQL database, while optional scheduled and incremental scanning both protects pre-existing content and optimizes system resources. File system-based quarantine protects the deployment, while access to quarantined materials directly through SharePoint interface for review ensures fast and efficient action can be taken on suspected content.

As with all AvePoint software, SharePoint Antivirus leverages only fully supported Microsoft methodologies and API’s
